IAPH Advanced Diploma ProgrammeIAPH therapists with 'Advanced Dip.' showing after their name, have successfully completed our Advanced Diploma Programme, and have been awarded our Advanced Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Pure Hypnoanalysis. The Advanced Diploma Programme is only open to IAPH Members, who have already completed our unique Hypnotherapy Training Course The programme takes a minimum of two years to complete, and requires the Member to have (a) Demonstrate to the IAPH Council of Management that they are capable of practising at an advanced level, (b) undertaken at least 500 hours of supervised client-hours, and (c) successfully passed eight of our advanced residential training seminars. Personal Therapy ProvidersAll IAPH Members undergo their own course of therapy (pure hypnoanalysis) before they are allowed to practise the therapy on other people. This 'Personal Therapy' or 'training analysis', ensures that every one of our therapists has experienced what a course of therapy is like, and hence is far more understanding of the principles and techniques involved, and far more able to provide the therapy to others, in a compassionate, caring and empathic manner. Going through their own 'Personal Therapy' rids the therapist of their own phobias/fears/anxieties/depression etc, so that they are much happier and more positive in life, and as a side effect, are much less likely to project their own neuroses onto you! Taking other therapists through therapy, tends to be harder and more involved than taking non-therapists through therapy, so the IAPH have specially trained a few of their more experienced Members in some advanced techniques and skills, in order to be able to effectively take other therapists through therapy. These specially trained Members have been designated as 'Personal Therapists' (shown as 'Pers.Therapy' in the listing above) - because they are able to offer our Members their 'Personal Therapy' Supervision: Personal and Professional SupportThe IAPH was the very first hypnotherapy organisation in the UK to introduce mandatory supervision for all of its Members. Supervision, or more specifically, 'Clinical Supervision', is not about having somebody watch over your shoulder while you are working, it is about having a professional relationship with someone trained and experienced in your particular field, where working together you can ensure that you are providing the very best treatment for your clients. This, typically, would mean having weekly meetings where the therapist would discuss issues or difficulties with their clients, their personal life, or a combination of the two. Criminal Records Bureau Checks (CRB Checks)Starting in 2003, as part of its committment to providing the most professional service possible, the IAPH was the only UK hypnotherapy organisation to check that none of its Members were registered on (what was then known as) the 'POCALS' list. The 'POCALS' list (Protection of Children Act List System) was essentially a list of those people who had offended against, or where there was reasonable evidence to suggest that they had offended against, children. After a few years, government policy changed, and it became immpossible to check against just this one register/list. POCALS became part of the newly-created 'Criminal Records Bureau Checks'. Currently, all Accredited IAPH Members hold a current CRB Check, as do many other Members.
